Chemo #8 (R-DHAP): Jan.12th- Jan.15th, 2021

Updated: Sep 21, 2022

So this is my second round of R-DHAP and I am expected to get a CT scan after this round to determine whether I needed another round or not. R-DHAP is a form of salvage chemotherapy that is supposed to kill off any remaining tumors that R-CHOP was unable to do. So the aim for me is to reach remission as close as possible before going through the stem cell transplant.

I would say that this round of chemo is relatively similar to my previous R-DHAP round. Nausea is still my biggest struggle and it took me a week to eat properly again. Compared to my previous round, my nausea kicked in much faster than before. During my previous round, the side effects kicked in two days after chemo and I was already home at that point. For this round, I already started feeling super nauseous on the fourth day in the hospital- when I wasn't even officially done with chemo. It was such a struggle for me to pack and get ready to return home. I could've stayed a day longer but I was so desperate to return home that I forced myself to pack as quickly as possible. As soon as I was home, I was practically in bed the entire day and waiting for time to pass...I was crying my eyes out. It was so tough not being able to feel like myself and not eat.

I would rate my overall experience also a 3.5/ 10.
